FAQ's
What
is Radical Notion?
Basically, we are a company
that produces and markets different forms of entertainment. Presently
our focus is on music, but we are inspired by all forms of art. We wanted
to include the phrase "independent media" in our identity so
that when the time is right, we can pursue other forms of entertainment
in addition to music (i.e. film, books, photography, etc).
So you guys are an indie record
label?
NO. It is very important to
us that we are not regarded as a record label. Sure, we
are doing things that a record label does. We do help bands finance their
records. We do take some ownership in the resulting intellectual property.
We do market said bands to target demographics in order to sell records
and make a profit. But please don't be confused. We go beyond these tasks
to help bands do everything they need to do to be successful in the long term. We aspire to be a management company, record label, publishing house, artist development
firm, production company and marketing agency all wrapped into one package.
Who is Radical Notion?
Simply put, we are two music
fanatics. Radical Notion is co-owned and operated by Stinson and Jonathan
Isaac Harms. Click on our names to read about us individually.
Do you have a physical office?
Where are you located?
Yes we do have an "office."
It is a small, unglamorous two room office located in Nashville, TN.
What is your mailing address?
Radical Notion (independent
media)
611 Arkland Pl
Nashville, TN 37215
Can I send you mail?
Email would be the better option.
Stinson's email is stinson@radicalnotion.net. Jonathan's email is ji@radicalnotion.net.
Email us any time. We would love to hear what you have to say, especially
if it is about something we could be doing better. If you really want
to mail a hand written letter, feel free to do so. You can send it to
the address above. However, at this point we are not accepting demos.
So you have explained what/who you are, but there are a ton of indies.
What makes you so different?
You just asked
the big one. It honestly would take up more room than we have here to
answer that question. In fact, you would probably end up reading a document
as thick as a major label's recording contract. We will try our best to
explain. We do music for the sake of doing music. We believe that if you focus all your energy on giving quality products
to your fans (you), they will beat down your door to be a part of it.
In other words, create a win win situation for everyone, and the rest
will happen as a by-product. The giant media companies are not in a position to focus as much time on customer satisfaction. You need someone who will be concerned with YOUR
needs. That is where Radical Notion steps in. There has never been a customer support department in the
music industry... EVER. Think about that. If you carry one idea with you
about what Radical Notion is, make it this: We want to be the customer support
department for the entertainment industry. Again, to go into full detail
about all of our philosophies/hopes/dreams/ect we would literally have
to write a book. If there are ANY unanswered questions never ever hesitate
to email us at the links above. THANK YOU!
Well it sounds like a great
thing for new and independent performing artists, but I'm a fan of music,
not a performer of music. How does Radical Notion apply to me?
Good question. We want to offer
more than just being something for the artists that we work with. We want
to be able to connect directly with you (fans) to provide you with quality
entertainment. We want Radical Notion to be a place everyone can get something
from, not just artists. Think of this analogy: A group of writers write
a TV sitcom. A film production company then films the sitcom. A television
network decides to pick up the sitcom and air it on their station. You
tune in to watch the sitcom. This process takes four large groups
of people to be successful. Each group has their own best interest in
mind. What if we took the film production company and the television network,
and put them together? You would end up with something that resembled
Radical Notion. A community were artists can go to create art, and
the fans can go to partake in the art.
That is a tall order. How
are you going to do something like that?
You're right, that is a tall
order. But that is not going to stop us from making an effort. We are
in this for the long term. It takes a lot of time and hard work to build
a company. There is so much we want to offer you, but we ask for your
patience while we build this company for you. Over time as we begin to
gain more traction in the industry, we will be more equipped to fully deliver
on our promises. To be honest, we can not do something like this without
your involvement. You can't have a hit song if no one listens to it, and
you can't have a hit product if no one wants it. We have a lot of ideas,
but it is going to take some time for us to fully develop these ideas.
We need your partnership for this to work.
Thanks Again...
