Thank You

Before I say anything, I would like to thank you tremendously for taking the time to get to know Radical Notion, and the people who are behind the operation. Asking for a person’s time is asking a lot, and I truly do appreciate you giving your time to us. I am very excited about the possibilities of RN, and I hope to see you beside us the whole way.

A Brief History of Radical Notion

The idea for Radical Notion really started about a year ago. It was Dec ’06-right around Christmas. I had a series of conversations at a coffee shop with a friend of mine who was visiting for the holidays. We were sharing some thoughts about technology and how new developments of recent years have empowered independent artists of all types (performing, visual, film, ect). I told my coffee shop friend a dream I came up with in college about an all in-house media company, where a performing artist could get everything they needed, but still have a personal feel. At the time I thought it was going to be at least another five years before I attempted something like this. I was in the process of transitioning out of a job at a recording studio to pursue a more independent option. I set up a studio of my own, and produced an EP for an artist who is known as Wes Sp8. As you now know, Wes ended up being an artist that Radical Notion represents. When we finished recording the EP, I was very inspired by what had happened. The songs were incredible, Wes’s voice was something totally unique, and the recordings that we captured at my studio turned out perfect. I felt like it would be short sighted to hand Wes the finished product, and part ways. I wanted to be a part of helping Wes and his music reach its full potential. I began looking for someone I could partner with to help me do this. Enter Jonathan Isaac Harms. As we continued to discuss our options for promoting Wes, we thought it would be best to form a company; putting a bigger identity behind him. It was time to make my college dream a reality. Enter Radical Notion. While we were still getting some preliminary things in order, I got a call to record and produce another EP for a band called The Street Corner Champs. During the pre production of their EP I became inspired by what they were doing as much as with Wes. Thinking back to how great things turned out with Wes’s recordings, I knew that my studio would be the perfect place to record The Street Corner Champs. At the end of the project we had five great songs, five great performances, and five great recordings—another fantastic EP for Radical Notion to help promote. The future of RN is bright. The ground we have covered up to this point has been more than expected. The only missing variable is you! Come be a part of the future of RN, I promise you will not regret it.

A word or two about me

I have lived in Nashville, TN my whole life. I never realized how rare of a situation that is until I got into the music business. I knew that I wanted to be involved in music at a very young age. My interest began at age twelve when I started taking guitar lessons. Two years down the road, I had fully fallen in love with music. In high school I spent time playing in some bands. Sometimes we were in the guitar player’s basement, other times we were in the drummer’s attic. When it came time to go to college, I decided to enter Belmont University’s music program. I spent two years studying classical guitar before I switched my major to audio/video production. In December 2004 I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Post graduation,  I went down the street, where I got a job at Quad Recording Studios. I spent three years at Quad as an assistant engineer/house engineer. Along the way I learned from some of the music industry’s greatest. Some of these people I became personal friends with, and I'm confident I will carry these relationships with me for the rest of my life. A person couldn’t ask for better mentors.
